Our Toddler room is made up of children roughly ages 18 months to 3 years, depending on readiness. We celebrate mixed ages because it leads to a richer environment that mimics everyday life. Working with peers who are both younger and older is a life skill that we are happy to foster. In Montessori Toddler rooms, movement and independence are encouraged from the earliest stages.
Our Toddler room never has more than 12 students making for an intimate environment. Our Toddler teachers have many years of experience in working with young children and in Montessori environments. We know how hard it can be, especially at this age, to leave your child in the hands of someone else. We communicate on a daily basis using an app, sharing information about food consumption, diapering, sleeping, and activities each and every day. We even send a few pictures so you can see what your child is doing while here at Mountainside Montessori.

Early Childhood

Our Early Childhood classrooms are made up of children ages 3 to 6 years. We celebrate mixed ages because it leads to a richer environment that mimics everyday life. Working with peers who are both younger and older is a life skill that we are happy to foster. In Montessori Early Childhood classrooms, independence, concentration, and self-direction are intentionally cultivated through hands-on materials and meaningful work.
Our Early Childhood classrooms are carefully prepared environments where children are free to choose work that meets their developmental needs. Teachers act as guides, observing each child and offering lessons when they are ready, allowing learning to unfold naturally rather than being driven by a one-size-fits-all curriculum. This approach supports strong academic foundations, emotional confidence, and a deep love of learning.
Our Early Childhood teachers bring extensive experience working with this age group and within Montessori environments. We partner closely with families to support each child’s growth, and we communicate regularly so you feel connected to your child’s day and development at Mountainside Montessori.
While preschool programs in Montana are not required to be licensed, we hold ourselves to high standards of safety, professionalism, and educational quality.
